What is L-Arginine?

Arginine is an amino acid that is responsible for a variety of functions, including the production of Nitric Oxide. It’s mostly found in foods, such as legumes, dairy products, seeds, and nuts.  But since not all adults have healthy diets, liquid Arginine, or L-Arginine, can be taken as a supplement. It comes in both liquid and pill form, and is available over the counter.

How does it work?

The body converts this amino acid into Nitric Oxide, which is a powerful neurotransmitter that relaxes and widens blood vessels (vasodilation) thereby increasing blood flow. This process produces multiple beneficial health effects.  As a result, it has been called the “miracle molecule” ever since the publishing of three UCLA doctors’ work that won them the Nobel Prize in 1998. Arginine also stimulates the growth of insulin and human growth hormone in the body.

What are signs of Arginine deficiency?

Those who experience any of the following might not be getting enough Arginine in their diets: diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, poor liver functioning, low metabolism, and insulin resistance.

What is L-Citrulline?

L-Citrulline is a naturally occurring amino acid, found in some foods like watermelon and is also produced naturally in the body. It is a precursor to Arginine and converts to Arginine in the endothelial cells in the body.  When combined with Arginine, it acts as a catalyst in the production of Nitric Oxide and allows for increased and sustained Nitric Oxide production in the body.  Scientific clinical studies have proven other health benefits as well. Many of the uses for L-Citrulline would be for Dementia, fatigue, Alzheimer’s, muscle weakness, Sickle Cell disease, high blood pressure, erectile dysfunction, diabetes, heart disease, body building, increased athletic performance, and increased energy. It might also help reduce blood pressure by widening the blood vessels, veins and arteries, which allows for more blood flow.  Unlike many other products, our proprietary formula adds L-Citrulline into the mix.

Who needs L-Arginine supplementation?

Any adult who doesn’t get enough in their diet need Arginine. Individuals who are trying to improve their eating habits can take supplements for a few months until their body is back on track.  Also, many body builders benefit from it, as it helps their bodies get through strenuous training.  L-Arginine Complete isn’t just vitamin supplements for athletes. Men and women of all ages can benefit from consistent doses of Nitric Oxide producing amino acids.

Who should not take it?

Arginine supplements are not recommended for children under age 18.  Pregnant and nursing women, people who recently had a heart attack, and people taking blood pressure or blood flow medication should not take the supplement.  People with diabetes, asthma, allergies, genital herpes, or taking medications such as Zantac or Viagra should consult with their doctor to make sure it is safe to take the supplements.  Read more about L-Arginine side effects

Are there any side effects?

As with virtually any type of dietary supplement, it’s always recommended to speak to your medical care provider about using L-Arginine Complete. That being said, the ingredients are considered safe.  There are some side effects, although they are generally minimal, such as bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, indigestion, diarrhea, and headaches.  However, it can cause such as allergies, airway inflammation, worsening of asthma, blood abnormalities, and low blood pressure.  Do not take prior to surgery or if you recently had a heart attack.  Read more about L-Arginine health effects

What is the recommended dosage forsupplements?

Since it occurs naturally in the body, there is no formal recommended dose for L-Arginine supplements. Everybody has different nutritional needs, so the right dosage varies from person to person. However, the standard amount is about ten grams (5,000 mg) per day (or two to three grams, three times a day) for up to six months. The amount can be reduced by eating foods that contain a lot of arginine, such as legumes, dairy products, seeds, and nuts. In general, men and women only need the recommended daily dose to get meaningful health benefits.  Supplements should only be taken for short-term solutions – for no more than six months.   Read more about L-arginine supplement dosage

How should it be taken?

Liquid arginine, or L-Arginine, is available over the counter in powder, liquid, and pill form. To reap the most benefits, this supplement should be taken on an empty stomach. You will still receive some benefits when taken with beverage or food but the positive effects will be reduced.

Where can supplements be purchased?

Most health stores and drug stores sell the supplements in powder, liquid, and/or pill form. It can also be ordered online from various health supplement companies (such as Living Better Direct, which sells L-Arginine Complete at largininedirect.com). However, not all products containing L-Arginine are equal. Quality products do not contain lysine or sugar; they contain the recommended daily dose minimum of 5,000 mg; and they are manufactured by companies that are compliant with pharmaceutical good medical practices (GMP).

Why are other Nitric Oxide supplements a lot more expensive?

The answer is simply supply and demand. Suppliers will charge what consumers are willing to pay, and with a product this popular, they can get away with charging more. However, some suppliers find it smarter to offer the product at the lowest price possible so more people can benefit from it and be happier and healthier, which results in repeat business.
